TEGH Talks
A flagship SHM event each year is the annual TEGH Talks Gala that sees inspirational Sikh speakers from around the world travel to Ottawa to deliver motivational talks.
Public Launch of the Sikhs in Canada Timeline Exhibit
In 2022 we were excited to publicly launch the permanent "Sikhs in Canada Timeline" Exhibition in Ottawa. This Exhibition covers Sikh history in Canada from before Confederation to the present day. This Exhibition is the product of many years of tireless effort by the historians at the Sikh Heritage Museum of Canada. It consists of dozens of panels of photos, stories, and facts that together form the largest, most comprehensive single timeline of Sikh history in Canada.
The City of Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe, and Ottawa Sikh Society Director Dr.Sambhi listening to a presentation on the Exhibition.
Open House for Educators
There will be a Sikh Heritage Month Open House for OCDSB Staff on Thursday, April 27th from 4pm to 6pm. This family friendly event will take place at the Ottawa Sikh Society Gurdwara (Place of Worship). This open house will be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the Sikh faith, practices, and heritage as well as the long history of Sikhs in Canada. There will be an opportunity to discuss resources available for educators and other important information to support Sikh students in your schools. Please visit the Events page for more information and to register!
Food Drives
Multiple times a year SHM Ottawa works with the local community and national organizations like Khalsa Aid Canada to organize food drives for those in need. These events take place across the city and work to help those who need it the most.
